We set up shells, risers, chairs, and stands for Music Department concerts, and have for as long as anyone can remember. The Music Department usually holds its concerts next door to Price Music Center in Stewart Theatre or the Talley Student Center Ballroom, but we have even been known to set up for concerts in locations like the Museum of Natural Sciences or Dorothea Dix Hospital. We train our Brothers in setting up shells and risers to give our Music Department's concerts a professional look.
Another of our service traditions at Alpha Chapter is to help our Marching Band at home football games. We assist the band staff in setting up water coolers, carrying equipment from the buses to the field, holding ladders during shows, and running errands for the band members and directors. We also provide apples for our band and any visiting bands.
Our efforts go to help support the Marching Band, and in doing so increase the awareness of football fans of the Music Department. Our efforts with the visiting bands are especially important in promoting fellowship among musicians from many schools. We intend to continue this tradition as long as there is a Marching Band to carry equipment and buy apples for.
